Kaki, normally by now I’m sick of summer. Normally I’m ready to start thinking about stews and sweaters, even though in Texas those things are still months away. But this year I’m just psyched there are still tasty little tomatoes at the store right now. There is still time to grill! Time to have picnics! Time to sip a delicious beverage while lounging by the pool.
I’ve done a bit more lounging poolside this summer than I normally do, and I recently made these lovely sips for just such an occasion. The blueberry and lavender, girl, it is such a lovely combination. Add lime, club soda, and optional vodka and you are in business. Head over to the TheKitchn for the recipe:

A relaxing moment on the balcony. Almost enough to ignore the view of the parking lot and the plant on its last legs.
So tasty.
Also, I made these recently; have you ever even heard of purple hull peas? I hadn’t but whoa, they are delicious. And I’ll be stealing the idea of cooking beans with a little liquid smoke for future recipes as well.
Happy last days of summer, Kaki!
